SJS Battalion 29

San Jose Fire Department responded to reports of an overturned tanker on the 101 Freeway South of San Jose in October, 2010. Upon arrival they discovered a tanker containing over 7000 gallons of hot molten wax was blocking the freeway.

The San Jose Hazardous Incident Team sealed up the small leaks at the top of the tanker, and decided to wait for the transport company's clean up crew to arrive. CHP had the HD Tow trucks push the tanker to the side of the road to open up lanes for the peak hour commute.

Once on scene cleaup crews punched a hole in what was now the top of the tanker and pumped the liquid cargo to a second tanker waiting nearby.
