Street Art
MISSION: Notice and creatively footnote artwork on public surfaces.

Streetart happens in public places, sometimes with and often without permission. The creative tools can be stencils, stickers, posters, paint, and sculpture. Some people consider streetart to be a kind of graffiti, but we, like the Wooster Collective and others, see it as a distinct movement today with deep connections to ancient creative impulses, whether on the walls of Rome or in the caves of Lascaux. Here's a quote we like: "The real revolutionary media were the walls... the silk-screen posters and the handpainted notices... The street is the alternative and subversive form of the mass media..." Jean Baudrillard, 1968.
