Good morning dear Flickr friends,
For me photography is associated with good preparation. When I'm on business during the day, I see beautiful locations here and there, which I then often record with my cell phone and write down a few keywords. For example about today's motif. A few days earlier I was in the small town of Dingelsdorf. I also remembered that we had landed here a few times with the kayaks. Even then I liked this free-standing tree. It stands there healthy and self-confident in every season.
At home, I first checked the cardinal direction of the location in question: The tree should appear as a backlit picture before sunrise but also in front of the lake. I work with an app with which I can locate any point on the map and zoom down to building level on the map. Yes, actually, for a clever backlit photograph I have to run into the water, i.e. into the lake. I had a look at the shore and the lake access last time: shallow lake access, no steeply sloping shore. I will still need the large Manfrotto tripod because I have to walk a few meters into the lake. Be sure to wear shorts, no jeans! It should be doable with the 12-24mm Sony. However, I have to zoom out a bit when using the ND filter to avoid a vignette.
Check the weather now. The UAV flight app predicted 100% cloud cover for today, with a cloud height of 100m and 45% probability of rain. No wind, no gusts. It could be a flop, I thought, but at 4:00 a.m. I was awake and drove off. I arrived in the dark and was able to find a good POV. I was not disappointed. What happened below the 100m woken limit was indescribable. Today's photo shows just the end of the photo session, a bit earlier the sky was bright orange.
For me it was once again worthwhile to prepare my photo session well. Of course, choosing a suitable lens is also important. I had the Sony 12-24mm G with me today, but I also took some pictures with the Sony 24mm 1.4 GM prime lens. Wow ... impressive light intensity. It wasn't until today that I realized again that I had bought the lens for precisely such lighting conditions. Composition, image structure, aperture, shutter and very, very much love for the photographic object. Part 2: Adjust all parameters for the drone flight.
I hope you like the result.
