girly quilt

that is A LOT of pink!

I finished the top last night and I am about to tackle the back. already wondering how I should quilt it. I'm leaning towards a meandering stitch, but I'm not sure yet.

all of you know how to make a girl feel good!! going to buy some binding fabric today :)

Ohhhhh and I know the most perfect binding you should use if you buy it....GRIN......but I think you doing the binding will make it even more awesome... :)
  • yahaira ferreira 4y

haha is it sad that I look forward to making the binding?!

yahaira ferreira Not at all....hubby leaves me alone when I do binding or he knows he will hear me swearing under my breath while ripping out the mistake I just made...LOL

yahaira ferreira i don't mind making it but i HATE attaching it.. just took me 1.5 hrs to bind my dream on quilt! but it's finished and in the dryer :)
  • yahaira ferreira 4y

hand sewing it down is the pits!
  • Jeni Baker 4y

yahaira ferreira haha, i don't have the patience for that, i do both sides by machine!
  • yahaira ferreira 4y

I'm still not good enough to make that look right
  • Shannon Margaret - Fabric Hoarder 4y

I like doing it both...I use the machine to do the initial stitch and then I turn over to the otherside and hand-stitch that one...if I have time....
  • yahaira ferreira 4y

yeah that's how I do it, though I'm always tempted to machine stitch both sides. just doesn't look perfect when I do it and hand stitching it down looks so pretty

Beautiful! I am in love with your colors.

I just started machine finishing my bindings and I am totally smitten with it. It's just so fast and easy. I do it by stitching onto the back, then finishing on the front and it looks really nice. I do love a hand finished binding, but I had started to wonder if anyone else noticed. Turns out they did not (well, a quilter might have, but I didn't ask any of them :))

and I need to suck it up and practice machine binding a lot more! I would love to not take days stitching it down. I just can't seem to get it even enough or I don't trust that I lined everything up.

yahaira ferreira as much as i try machine binding, i still prefer hand-stitching the binding. you get to watch a few movies, you never have to bust out the seam ripper and you know it will look the way you want on both sides because you can check as you go. can't wait to see this all done!

I love this quilt - I read a tip posted somewhere? the other day where a lady had quilted 'from the back'. It was a child's quilt and she actually quilt large flowers and some free motion which looked great on the front of the quilt withour interfering with the pattern at all. I thought it was a great idea!

Cheryl Murray Do you still remember the URL for that.... Sounds interesting...

JenniferCasa haha those are all my arguments as well! I finished it up and it took me a few episodes of top gear and some pbs show to bind :)
    | Cloud9 Fabrics they are so funny, once my friends found out they were having a girl everything HAD to be pink. so I'm giving them PINK!
Cheryl Murray that sounds interesting! if you remember the link please share!
