I had posted this image a few months ago. I had taken down the previous version due to quality reasons. But, it's back and definitely better than before.
This was around the time I had first received my 105mm macro and so I was testing it out a bit. I was laying next to a river (chest in the mud, legs in the water) waiting for a group of these guys to rest down and drink water from the soil. Many flew on me, it was a nice little moment. The sun was very strong and directly overhead. At the time I didn't think much of it so I was harshly disappointed after the test shoot. Overexposure is a bitch. I had to save the ones I liked with photoshop.
For the curious, it's a Western Tiger Swallowtail, Papilio rutulus
