Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California, USA
This is another picture of my recent US trip. After Bryce Canyon, I went to Yosemite National Park. It was the week of pacific storms coming in, floods in california, everything getting snow upon reaching Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I actually was lucky to get out, a day later, roads in and out Yosemite Valley were closed due to either snow or fallen trees. :)
So, in any case, for taking pictures, I had to make the best out of this weather, with guaranteed absolutely no sunlight whatsoever. Here, I did choose a standard view that is known, Tunnel View. I still like it, however, since the weather is not that commonly seen on pictures. I like how El Capitan to the left is just hinted at, how Half Dome in the back is almost vanishing, the wind on Bridalveil Fall to the right, and the trees in the entire valley dusted with snow (which usually doesn't hold that long), while fog floating around.
Compositionally, I had several shots with different vertical directions, i.e. giving more or less room to the sky. I went for this picture with slightly more room, to hint at everything vanishing in the clouds.
