The Hobbit (43/43)
“As all things come to an end, even this story, a day came at last when they were in sight of the country where Bilbo had been born and bred, where the shapes of the land and of the trees were as well known to him as his hands and toes.”
Did you ever have a friend that meant as much to you as your own family? Alfio and his wife were such friends. Long ago, Alfio and I watched all three movies of the ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy (extended versions) in a one-day-marathon, starting at 9 a.m. and finishing at 2:30 a.m. the next morning (we went for walks in the wood between the movies). For me, this was a very special day that I’ll never forget. It was also the main reason for me to build this series.
I wanted to write so much; I thought about this last post so often, but now that we’re here, my head is as empty as my LEGO boxes (all 43 vignettes still exist).
As the final one in the series, this vignette is twice as big as the others—a ‘bignette’ if you like.
And here we are, we’ve reached the end, after almost half a year for you and two and a half years for me. I’d like to thank everybody who took the time to watch and like my series, and especially those who took extra time to write comments.
Special thanks to:
- J. R. R. Tolkien, for sharing his wonderful world with us.
- Bluefax, for his incredible ‘The Hobbit’ audiobook series on YouTube and SoundCloud, which accompanied me countless hours during building and was sadly taken down a few month ago (I hope who ever filed the takedown request comes to his mind, because bluefax’ version was the best I’ve ever listened to—all done by a single person)
There’s one last thing, an epilogue, if you like. I still have an ace up my sleeve: One final MOC is missing. I tried to finish it in time for the last vignette, but due to changes is my personal life, it will take a bit longer until I can upload it. It’s not a vignette, but a much bigger thing and that’s all I’ll reveal at the moment.
