The Discoverer Enterprise from Transocean is an ultra- deepwater drillship, or in simple terms an oil platform on a ship. What's really interesting is this ship has two separate drilling rigs and has the unique capability to conduct drilling operations simultaneously.

It is 835 Feet long (almost 3 football fields), 415 tall, has six 7,000 horsepower thrusters which ensures stability even in a hurricane. (That is really amazing!). It uses 135-foot-long stands of pipe, compared with the 93-foot stands typically used by drillers.

Some other facts are: the ship has living quarters for 200 people, generates up to 40 megawatts of power which is enough to power 40, 000 homes. It has 1,600 miles of wire and cable which is enough wire and cable to reach from Huston, Texas to New York City, NY, and displaces 220 million pounds.

The ship can drill in open ocean depths of 10,000 feet or almost 2 miles and drill 35,000 feet from sea level for a total of 6.5 miles.

It has several cranes and even a helicoptor landing pad.
