Seems like in the past we had more Aero-Dynamic looking concept cars than we have now.

Unfortunately, WWII put a chill on the development of the Ford Tadpole.

"In the future, everyone will think bright yellow or orange metal and chrome are the coolest combinations for speedy wierd vehicles." "Ooohh! But I like that blue one!" "That's allright. They will come in all kinds of colors! Yep. All kind of bright colors and chrome. Some will look like helicopters! Some will look like submarines! But as you can tell from most ads nowadays, yellow and orange will be the most popular." "I hear that, Bob. I'm thinking of buying one exactly like this test vehicle. Not for 2 years though. That's how long it will take for them to make it."

2 years? Yeah, right. When cars can fly.

Maybe it was easier to look forward in car design in 1940.
Most of the Detroit concept cars lately have been heavily influenced by the 60's and 70's
Todays Ford Mustang, Dodge Charger, and Chevy Camaro are just more plush versions of the classics.

I wouldn't care that my car looked like a sunburned tadpole if it could fly.

I'd prefer better rollover protection in my three-wheel car.

It has the circa '53 divided panoramic windows, the '51 Buick's covered ventiports, and '50 Pontiac's Silverstreaks, and of course '48 Cadillac ducktail. So it all did come in the end.
