      What I like about this is the neat capture of the social history of technology. You can also read it with a heavy dose of post-modern irony.

      I`m old enough to remember tv sets that were like huge pieces of furniture. We didn`t get ours (in the highlands of Scotland) until the mid seventies, and it took four men to lift it, in it`s wooden cabinet, into the livingroom where it lived til it died! Ours was the first colour set in the area and folks came from as far away as 50 miles to see it. :D The very first programme I ever watched was original Star Trek. Been hooked ever since. :-)
