You may recall I spent some time in France and Spain this year, and yet - no calendars from those locations. Perhaps I am holding out on you for a reason. A reason that will be obvious in 2017.
So while you wait for that shoe to drop, we'll stay domestic, with a visit to the Alabama Hills in eastern California, between Death Valley and the High Sierras - a rocky wilderness in the Owens Valley near Lone Pine.
With the highest mountain in the lower 48 to my back (Mt. Whitney), we stood over the Alabama Hills on a late January morning and shot the sun rising over the eastern slope of the valley. What a wonderful place to start a day.
