Lathe Arch Sunrise Alabama Hills
Before our Alabama Hills workshop, we took our 'early-bird' students out with us as we scouted the Mobius and Lathe Arches. This was the only morning during the week that we had some clouds at sunrise. Here, the alpenglow lights up the Sierra Peaks. Lone Pine Peak is in the center.
Note: In post-processing this image, I used Photoshop CS5 and only made a minimal Levels adjustment. This is from a single exposure, not HDR. To photograph this little arch, you must get down into a narrow gap between this arch and the big rock behind. It is very difficult to use a tripod here.
Camera data: Nikon D300 with 10-20mm Sigma super-wide angle lens. Hand-held for 1/8th second at f-14 ISO 250.
