When you compose a landscape photograph, always look for a foreground object you can include as a design element. Doing so gives your composition more interest. Here, I used this big rock to 'anchor' my composition. A few feet away and facing northwest, I took a shot where I did not use a foreground object That photograph is not nearly as interesting.
