Mt Morrison and Sierra Peaks
I was doing some scouting with Jeff Sullivan for our upcoming landscape photography workshop in the Mammoth Lakes area. I liked this scene and stopped to take a few images. We drove down this valley in hopes of finding a spot where we could photograph Mt Morrison towering above some sinuous curves in Sherwin Creek. When we saw the spot off a hundred yards or so, it was fenced in and posted, "No Trespassing".
Composition notes: Rule of Thirds is obvious here. In the design of this shot, I liked the way the lines all run diagonally in opposite directions. The colorful brush is sloping down to the right and the darker hills are sloping to the left. I also used the technique of layering colors and contrast here. I also put the peak of Mt Morrison on a thirds line, rather than in the middle of the image.
