Mojave Sunset and Clouds

On my way into Joshua Tree National Park, I stopped just before the entrance station and parked my truck to capture this scene. I should have stayed here for the entire sunset, but I was thinking it might be better inside the park with some Joshua trees in the foreground. Big mistake. These clouds became hidden behind a hill a few miles inside the park and the sunset there was not as dramatic. I'll never know what I missed.

Lesson: if you see a spectacular sunrise or sunset scene developing, stay with it!

Composition notes: I tried to get enough foreground to give the scene some scale. I find that sunrise and sunset images without a interesting foreground are not all that great, even with a dramatic sky. I positioned the clouds so that the ones on the upper right take you deeper into the image, to the two orange highlights, one in the clouds and the other below it on the hill.
