Lobster Roll @ Red's Eats - Wiscasset, ME

08.05.06 : Absolute heaven and totally worth the one-hour wait under the baking sun! Comes with a side of either butter or mayo too...so sweet and succulent I couldn't stop till I finished the whole thing! ^_^

In August of 1963, I visited Maine for the first time. In eight days I had clam chowder about nine times and blueberry pie (Maine berries are the best!!!) about seven. I tried my first lobster roll; it cost $4.25. By the early 1980s, the price was $7.25. Now it's not out of the ordinary to pay $18-20. The beauty lies in the special bun not found outside of New England. You have to be wary for filler (slaw mostly) that some places add to give the appearance you're getting a lot. Red's does not. Their rolls are huge and worth the price.
