Milky Way over Crater Lake
Taken a few years ago on a July 4th roadtrip to Crater Lake National Park. The trip up from the Bay Area was fantastic, with stops at Mt. Shasta, Lava Beds, and Burney Falls. Plus, I love anywhere that still has snow on the ground in July.
There's a pretty significant loss of detail and color in this image, both as the result of trying to decrease noise in post-processing. I'm really looking forward to getting back sometime with a little more night sky experience under my belt (and a little more appropriate equipment in my bag).
