Downed trees on Mount Baker Highway (SR 542)
Wet, snowy and windy weather caused nearly 100 trees to crash down across Mount Baker Highway just west of the ski area. The road is expected to remain closed until at least Friday, Dec. 21.

In some cases, the weight of the snow uprooted whole trees. Others snapped off and came down across the road. Crews have cleared some trees, but it's too dangerous for our crews or drivers to be in the area.

Once it's safe, we'll get the road clear and open to drivers. Keep tabs on road conditions by following @wsdot_north on Twitter or bookmarking our What's Happening Now page: www.wsdot.wa.gov/construction/pugetsound/today.htm
