SR 520 Eastside, March 2012 Closure
During another busy weekend of construction, March 9-12, 2012, crews demolished the 50-year-old Evergreen Point Road overpass over State Route 520 and installed more than 1,000 feet of new drainage structures. Taking advantage of the closure, WSDOT maintenance crews also replaced a giant hydraulic lift that operates the SR 520 floating bridge drawspan.

The SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV Project widens SR 520 from four to six lanes from Medina to Bellevue and includes rebuilding interchanges, installing fish-friendly culverts, and building highway lids and transit stops in the center of the highway. WSDOT awarded the $306 million design-build contract to Eastside Corridor Constructors, a joint venture of Granite Construction Company and PCL Construction Services.
