SR 520 Eastside, Sept. 2011 closure
Crews continued work to replace the Bellevue Way bridge in Bellevue as part of the SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV Project. The western half of the bridge was demolished. The existing Bellevue Way Bridge will be replaced with a wider bridge with a shared use bicycle/pedestrian path and landscaping. Crews also installed a drainage culvert, electrical conduit and constructed a support for the future Evergreen Point Road lid.

The project widens SR 520 from four to six lanes from Medina to Bellevue and includes rebuilding interchanges, installing fish-friendly culverts, and building highway lids and transit stops in the center of the highway. WSDOT awarded the $306 million design-build contract to Eastside Corridor Constructors (ECC), a joint venture of Granite Construction Company and PCL Construction Services.
