Chinook and Cayuse Pass - 2011 Clearing
Chinook Pass is scheduled to open on Thursday, June 23 at 10 a.m. Our crews continue to plow and blow snow, widening the roadway out to provide full width lanes and shoulders. We're also repairing and replacing the signs damaged over the winter.

Each year, WSDOT closes SR 123 Cayuse and SR 410 Chinook Passes due to heavy snow and extreme avalanche danger. In the spring, we begin to clear the roads. Crews started clearing Cayuse Pass in March 2011. Crews from the eastside began clearing Chinook in April. After the westside crews are done clearing Cayuse, they will start up SR 410 toward Chinook and meet the eastside crew not far from the summit.
