SR 823 / Selah Vicinity / Reroute highway project
To help reroute truck traffic away from congested downtown streets of Selah, WA, WSDOT and crews:

•Widen S. Wenas Road (SR 823) to three lanes and extend it south to connect into the signalized intersection at S. First Street and E. Fifth Avenue
•Installed traffic signals where Wenas Road intersects with both Naches and Fremont avenues.
•Added sidewalks to both sides of the new section of SR 823 to improve safety for pedestrians.

The two-season project is scheduled to be completed by the fall 2012 after a section of Railroad Avenue north of E. Naches Avenue is widened and reconstructed with concrete pavement to better withstand frequent truck traffic. Work also includes new turning lanes at several intersections, sidewalks, street lighting and storm-drainage systems.

This $9.3 million project is funded by the 2005 gas tax.
