Fierce mama

Mama is very protective of her chicks. She and the male falcon have been nesting and raising chicks at this nest on the Ship Canal Bridge since 2002. They like their home! When this pair abandons the nest, most likely through death, it may remain empty for a year or two but then another pair will move in.

This falcon was hatched in 2000 on the old Trojan Nuclear Cooling Tower in southern Washington.
