Snowblower crushed by avalanche

This snowblower was crushed by a avalanche on Stevens Pass at Old Faithful #3 on March 31.

Normally, this is one of the pieces of equipment we'd use to help clear snow from the North Cascades Highway - SR 20.

Unfortunately, though, it's sitting in the maintenance yard waiting for repairs. It’s not going to be available to help clear the North Cascades Highway until all the broken glass in the cab and some crushed steel panels get straightened or replaced. In addition to the cosmetic damage, the steering gear is broken, the hydraulic and cooling systems both suffered damage, too. Until we get it running again, we won’t know what else may be damaged. It very well may not be available for the North Cascades Highway clearing this year.

We may have to borrow a snowblower out of Spokane that usually works Sherman Pass.
