Filling in Broad Street

    Newer Older

Looking northeast at what remains of Broad Street in Seattle where crews are filling in the section of the street that went under the SR 99/Aurora Avenue North overpass. Crews will demolish the overpass and build a new section of State Route 99/Aurora Avenue North on top of the fill during a four-day closure of the highway from 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. Completing this work paves the way for construction of future ramp and roadway connections at the SR 99 tunnel’s north portal. What are they filling with? Is it from another project?

      Hi Alper,

About 20 percent of the fill will be reused soil that was excavated on the construction site. The remainder is coming from a supplier in Snohomish County.
