2019 UMW Annual Meeting
United Methodist Women from across Western PA gathered at Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park on Oct. 27 to celebrate 150 years of history, focus on current ministries and look to their future in mission and ministry. Pittsburgh District Superintendent Dawn Hand led the opening worship after the group provided sound effects for a dramatic presentation of the dark and stormy night when the Women's Missionary Society was launched in Boston. Ebony Diaz, National UMW staff member, explored the future of United Methodist Women, and discussed ways to engage new women to carry on the legacy and purpose for the next 150 years. Bishop Cynthia Moore-Koikoi preached at the closing communion service and during the day breakout sessions were led by Denise Nicole Stone, a UMW National Board member and leader of Unstoppable young women in Western PA; Rev. LIddy Barlow of Christian Associates of SWPA; Cheri Pogue and Elizabeth Martinez of UM Church Union in Pittsburgh; Laura Styles of East Liberty Family Health Care Center, and Patrice Tomcik of Mom's Clean Air Force.
