About 100 adults, youth and children gathered at California University of PA from June 18-21 for Mission u. Participants chose from a
a spiritual growth study Resurrection: The Gospel of Mark and Radical Discipleship led by the Rev. Eric S. Park; one of two Women United for Change classes, a look at the rich 150-year history of mission by United Methodist Women with Mission Ambassadors Saundra McKee and Lynn Sibley or Julia Tulloch of the national UMW organization; and
What About Our Money? A Faith Response, exploring how we relate to money within the context of our faith with elmira Nazombe. Others opted for Mission u in action and joined youth at work sites in the area. Several optional two hours sessions focused on understanding poverty, systemic racism, managing money, and area history. Pastor Bay Allen led music; Barb Hess was dean of Mission u and Rev. Lisa Grant served as assistant dean. Revs. Anais Hussian and Ricky Nelson led Youth Mission u and Rev. Bev Roscoe and Peggy Ward were the children's leaders.
