Collection Agency letter from The Nation
"The Nation" is nuts. I noticed I was following links to some interesting articles, and decided to throw some money their way. I never received any paper copies of the magazine, and didn't expect to. Apparently, they automatically* renewed my subscription—just after my credit card was hacked in August 2013, and I got a new number. The transaction failed, but they let the subscription stand, and started sending me paper mail. I just saw "renew" on the envelope, and tossed it unopened as junk mail. When they (finally) sent me an email in November, I replied, telling them to get lost. Now, in March 2014, they've sent me to a collection agency!
*Note that I didn't do the renewal—they did.
ADDENDUM: I called their Support number the next day. They removed the obligation. I asked for an email confirmation, and one did arrive.
