Grange bone orchard 020

The Grange cemetery on the south side of Edinburgh, first laid out in 1847, it is the largest of the city's old graveyards, originally on the outskirts but now surrounded by popular areas like Marchmont (studentstville! I stayed not far from here as a student myself).


Close up of the statue in the middle of that memorial, dedicated to the daughter who died aged only 21, must have broken her parents' hearts. The statue was beautiful and contemplative. I stood quite close by it for some time, quite taken with her. Part of me half expected her to open her eyes and smile...
