Grassmarket Slowly Returns To Life 01
Walking through the Grassmarket yesterday - pubs don't open from Lockdown until the middle of next week (with strict safety rules to follow), but those with beer gardens or pavement cafe style areas are allowed to serve people. No actual going into the pub, but you can sit at the outdoor drinking and dining areas for food and drink.
This is in the Grassmarket, the old square right below the Castle, lined with pubs and inns, some of which were already centuries old when Robert Burns stayed in them during a visit, and numerous restaurants. As you can see from my pics from a couple of months ago, it is a bit livelier - walking there in April and May at height of Lockdown it was deserted, the pubs boarded up.
It is still a fraction of what it would normally be - this is usually heaving with tourists, but it was still nice to see some life coming back to the area after these long, long months grinding away at all of us all over our world.
