Stopped on today's walk to sit below a shady tree and read. Had been there just a short while when I heard singing, and saw this young woman on MIddle Meadow Walk. Standing under the trees, in the summer sunshine she had piano music on her phone and was singing arias. I and others sat nearby and listened to her voice soaring up into the trees above to meld with the birdsong in the branches above. Utterly sublime.
It's been a tough year for my family, even before the pandemic, rough and stressfull. Then you get a few moments like this, a summer afternoon and a beautiful voice beneath the leafy green canopy of the trees, and for a few magical, beautiful moments life seems wonderful again.
