The Mound, autumn evening 05

Out for a stroll yesterday evening, took a few night shots around the National Gallery of Scotland and the Royal Scottish Academy, both large Neo-Classical galleries which sit on a large square on the Mound, which slopes upwards connecting the Georgian-era New Town to the Old Town above on its volcanic ridge (the Mound was largely made from earth excavated from clearing the valley between the New and Old Towns when the railway lines were put in there).

The lines of the square between the galleries and the nearby Princes Street Gardens, and the regular, repeated lines of columns on the buildings are kind of irresistible for shooting, especially at night, and now it is getting darker earlier each evening I thought I'd grab the tripod and go take a few night shots.
