Edinburgh International Book Festival 2018 - Alan Lee 01
Last night of this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival and my last chairing duties for this year, and what an event I had for the final one - Mr Alan Lee, a wizard of the brushes, taking us through his body of work with his astonishing art on the big screen, from early works through Lord of the Rings (books and film work) and up to this just-released final Tolkien work (ironically the first Middle Earth tale Tolkien ever wrote, started back in 1917 during a break from the trenches), The Fall of Gondolin, with beautiful pencil works and fully painted pages by Alan.
And yes, of course I got my copy signed! Glad I asked him to do my copy before the event as we were chatting and preparing, after the talk the line of happy readers waiting to get their books signed stretched out the tent, one friend told me she waited an hour and a half for her copy, but it was well worth it! Lot of very happy readers after that event, nice one to finish my book fest on.
