New Year's Resurrection 01

Walking home this evening I paused to watch one part of New Year's Resurrection by acclaimed Scots writer Val McDermid. This is part of the Message From the Skies project, from the Edinburgh City of Literature organisation (Edinburgh is a UNESCO City of Literature), with a story written by Val being projected in segments on different historical buildings around the city.

This is the Signet Library, next to Saint Giles Cathedral. All handheld shots as I was on the way home from work, so not super-sharp, but still passable. There is a trail of these literary light installations around the town to follow, complete with an app (that comes in different languages, this being a tourist destination), and it started as part of the various Hogmanay and New Year's celebrations in Edinburgh and will run until Burns Night (25th Jan). Details on the website:

The things you can just come across on your walk home from work in this city, even on a dark, cold winter's evening.. This is one of the reasons I always have my camera in my bag with me, you never know what you will find in a stroll in Auld Reekie...
