In India, the lines on the road are merely suggestions, as are the traffic signals and road signs. In central Delhi, there is more enforcement of traffic laws (only top speed and stop lights), but for the most part, it's a mad free-for-all. This photo shows a relatively orderly traffic scene in India. Yet somehow, it all works. Amazingly, there is no road rage, since it's all expected to be chaos.
The car I was in got rear ended at one point. The other driver got out and had a somewhat angry conversation with my driver. After about 3 minutes of mixed Hindi and English, they both decided it wasn't worth it to argue, and they should move on. Amazing.
I saw a man on a scooter get hit by a car. He got up, brushed himself off, gave the driver of the car a dirty look, and rode off!
