Soldiers Holding Hands

It is not unusual in many societies throughout east Africa for men to display their friendship for one another by holding hands in public. Two soldiers on patrol in the streets of Bujumbura, Burundi non-chalantly express their affection for one another.

It's true, it's very common out there. I like this picture very much, because it's an every-day scene, but also quite confusing for most westerners. Good post!

It's quite impacting, but really nice. Good shot!

I like it. Cause I find it sad how we live in a society that rather sees two guys holding guns than holding hands.

I remember when I was a kid in Italy -- 50 years ago -- men would walk down the street with their arms around each other -- or holding hands. You don't see it anymore.

I experienced this in Angola. While walking through the capitol, Luanda, my guide and friend, Joao, took my hand in his and we walked that way for hours. It was a great experience....made me feel part of his life, his world, his country.
