Tokyo AMR OH Conference Side Event - Research Effort to Reduce AMR in Animals

The Japan Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) organised the 7th Tokyo AMR One Health Conference 2025 in Tokyo, Japan, from 18-20 February, to share progress in the implementation and monitoring and evaluation of AMR National Action Plans following the OH approach in the Asia Pacific.
WOAH co-organised a complementary side-event at the Tokyo AMR One Health Conference 2025 titled “Research effort to reduce the use of antimicrobials in animals” on 20 February.
The objectives of the meeting were to:
- Promote and coordinate AMR/AMU-related research and innovation, facilitating international cooperation.
- Encourage participation in the Antimicrobial Resistance and Alternatives to Antimicrobials STAR-IDAZ Working Group, open to both members and non-members of STAR-IDAZ IRC.
- Share challenges and successful stories related to research efforts aimed at reducing antimicrobial use in animals.
