Fortifying Institutional Resilience Against Biological Threats
As beneficiaries of the Fortifying institutional resilience against biological threats (FIRABioT) Project, launched by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) to improve its Members’ abilities to respond to emergencies (including agro-crime and agro-terrorism events), 5 countries including Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Tanzania and Zimbabwe, took part in a bioinformatics and data management training.
The training took place from 15 - 19 April 2024 at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi, Kenya.
The training had the following specific objectives:
a)Provide a comprehensive understanding of bioinformatics and its applications in the field of animal health and biological threat reduction.
b)Enhance participants' proficiency in utilising bioinformatics tools for disease surveillance, diagnosis, and monitoring.
c)Develop expertise in data management techniques, including data collection, storage, and analysis for informed decision-making.
d)Foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing among participants to create a global network of professionals dedicated to biothreat reduction.
