Samantha in Something Blue, I don't know if it was borrowed or not...

    Newer Older

For Visualville's DVD project on glamor. Samantha is lit with a hard light from top, camera right just raking the wall and a beauty dish from camera left, slightly. Large V-Card is camera right and up against the wall to make certain the light would wrap neatly. Simple lighting to show the shape of her.

Wait till I show you how to get these skin tones in the SF Workshop. You will not believe how amazingly simple it is... and totally powerful. Lighting for perfection and then squeezing it in Pshop for a fine tune...

      See you there.

Stunning shot. What was borrowed... I got distracted. I would love to come to one of your workshops. I would love to give my daggy old D70 and my SB800 a run with you guys. All I need is a plane ticket and I'm there (putting this on my wish list now)

      Dang Don! That is HOT!

How did you keep the wall so dark with the beauty dish at camera left? Was it done in post?

    15. Don Giannatti (aka wizwow) 99 months ago | reply

Well the beauty dish is bouncing the specular away from her, and exposure was made for her skin tone. The wall is a dark "Thunder Gray" so it just lands where it lands. No burning in Pshop at all. I do use luminosity masks to work the contrast though... digital seems so flat to me.
