"Dance Free" Poster
I was asked to create a poster for a group that wanted to alleviate some restrictions on modern dance in a facility. They weren't asking for much, but they did want to be able to create artistic works without the 'overseers' of the art community.
We took Brooke, a wonderful dancer and hung some heavy chain from a boom arm above. she then wrapped herself in the chain and began to pose as if she was pulling at the chains.
The tricky part is making sure the image doesn't look like SM, and has a bit of artistic flair.
There are two strobes, one on each side of her. They have medium grids and are back far enough for the grid spread to do its job. They are both slightly behind Brooke as well. The 'window' is a black card with a cutout to make the window. It is placed in front of a medium reflector on a bare strobe head. We moved and positioned it to get the angled shape and then shot Brooke in front of it.
Brooke is standing on a set about 3 feet off the ground and the RB67 is down low, about calf level. TMax 100.
