St Thomas:Rusty Candy Cane

    Newer Older

My 2nd trip to the Lighthouse so I decided I wanted a different view and carried only a 70-300mm lens - bad idea!

I had to walk about a mile away to be able to get the LH in the frame AND I had to stand out in the water which all of a sudden started to kick up and start splashing me

Don't get salt water on your camera ; - )

I like the photo. It seems that this lighthouse could use some paint.

Nice photo, Charlene. We enjoyed our earlier trip out there with you guys. It was a lovely lighthouse, rust and all, but didn't feel all that safe to climb to the top! Best wishes from Washington... -Bob

Nice shot, it has got a sixties look, maybe the fade colors ?

robert birkenes I was looking at the group picture the other day from that memorable trip and thought of you all.
Its a historical site and natirally faded so I added a little more fade for effect :-)

      This angle is different. Nice.
I just said to Neil Williams that it is important to establish a style of shooting, find a spot clear of the other photographers and shoot.
I have been looking at the photos from this field trip and they all feel the same.
This is an interesting angle and a wonderful sky.
      Did anybody go upstairs?.

      Thanks
donnettezacca Everyone , except me went upstairs. It was challenging to get a 'different' angle on this trip, but luckily we have other different audiences and it will be new to them

As a child I climb the very same lighthouse in St Thomas, Then it was beautiful kept and painted, sadly it seem to be in serious need of upkeep. Thanks for sharing Charlene. Very nice composition, I think it will also look great in Black and white.
