Wicker trunk attributed to Joachim Schildhauer, New Holstein, Wisconsin, 1890-1915
This rectangular wicker trunk is constructed from willow branches wrapped around a wooden framework. It has an iron strap latch and two braided straw handles. Between 1890 and 1915, the Schildhauer family cultivated and processed willows for use in wicker baskets on their farm near New Holstein.
