Inspired by the Edward Weston comment, I wanted to see just how close I could get to NSFW with two spoons.
Strobist: One sb28, on a cord, handheld to the back and low, firing into a white translucent cutting board held at a low angle above and back from the spoons. The background is black posterboard as a base. I varied the beam spread and how close it was to the spoons to give a smooth cutoff of the specular highlight. Farther/wider is more light on the foreground, and the risk of seeing the edge of the cutting board. Close and tight gives a nice smooth falloff.
This is a macro shot, with a +4 closeup filter on a 100mm lens.
B&W, crop in lightroom.
