June 11 277 Finding our flat

I was a bit shocked when we arrived at Broadstairs and I saw how near we were to the centre of the town where it was so busy. We had been sent the keys to the house by post beforehand. Number 16, flat 12. We thought we'd found number 16 and tried the key in the lock. It wouldn't open.

Not another frustration. We thought we'd left those behind. What to do now. Eventually Tom tried the key in the next door. It opened. I thought for a while it was my eccentric countrymen showing the wrong numbers on the board but it was our mistake. We were so tired and not thinking straight. The photo shows the correct address and the numbers you see refer to the flats, not as we were assuming, the house number. Of course they did I realised when I thought about it. Flat 12 was there and 16 was in small numbers above the door which I didn't notice until a couple of days later!
