Apr10 166 Pulsatilla vulgaris-Pasque Flower. Pink

These grow in open soil with plenty of grit in rock garden or scree beds in full sun and well-drained soil. They dislike winter wet and root disturbance.. I grew these from seed sown in December 07 and overwintered in a cold frame. When growing up in the 50s we used to cycle every Easter to Royston Heath in Hertfordshire, about 15 miles from our home, to see them growing on Royston Heath. It was covered with the purple ones and made a beautiful purple haze. I took a purple one last year.

I'm rather delighted that this one has turned out pink as I haven't seen that coloured one before. I have some very small plantlets from last years sowings which came through the v cold winter unscathed so they are very hardy.
