    It's part of the hydro-electric system - it sticks out the bottom of the dam.

    The whole area is a network of smaller duct and pipes that collect every available bit of water from the burns and direct them to dams or generating stations. in this pipe the water flows down to the bottom of the glen then flows back up to a slightly lower level on the other side then through a tunnel for about 4 or 5 miles through the hill until it reaches the dam at the head of Glen Lyon.

    I will check next time I am in Callander, it may have reached there, but I have never seen anything like that near here. The versions that can be seen from the train entering Edinburgh are more hurried and less intricate.
