Every Time We Have A Family Reunion Somebody Gets Eaten

The Spider And The Fly

Gilbert Family Reunion

Washington Park

Old Washington Kentucky

Little did I realize that when I decided to start playing around with this little spider that I would end up capturing a death struggle. I spotted him on a picnic table, he was quite hyper and I was having some trouble getting him to sit still so my cousin Vicky decided to try and help by corralling him with her hands. And it worked. Then, a fly landed nearby and was quickly walking closer searching for food, suddenly Mr. Spider turned looked at the fly, and I knew it was on. The spider moved like a blur and stopped about half way to where the fly was, who was still moving, then just as fast as he had moved before, the Spider pounced and captured the fly. The fly struggled, trying to get out of the grip of the spider to no avail. It's not every day that one gets to see our little world of nature where the hunter tracks down and captures its prey, and even less often we get to photograph it.
