Elakala Falls #1

Shay's Run

Blackwater Falls State Park

Davis, West Virginia

I normally don't shoot shots looking down on falls but while Randy was upstream shooting isolations I decided to head to the top of falls and discovered the perspective was really cool, with the brown tinted water, the massive icicles 35 ft. below, and the foam water trails. Elakala Falls #1 is hands down one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, with little flow or heavy flow it is well worth the time to check out even if you aren't a photographer. The brown color of the water is created by the moisture being stained after flowing across the decaying needles of White Pine and Hemlock that cover the ground though out the park as it makes it's way to the water shed.
