We wondered about the snow to the East we had seen the Waterville Plateau was absolutely buried from Chelan Butte last week but with rapidly warming temps we decided it might be a good option for the day we had last hiked the "Rock" over 10 years ago when it was snow free and colorful. The drive over was surreal with a clear, dry road parting a great white sea of snow on either side, many feet. Once at Banks lake (which was frozen) there was quite a bit of snow just off the road in under exposed areas. The sky was blue and cloudless and the hike around the perimeter on top was generally 1' of snow with areas of 2', wet and airy. Great to get out !
