Protecting Chaco Canyon from Oil and Gas Drilling and Fracking
WildEarth Guardians is working to protect Chaco Culture National Historic Park in northwestern New Mexico from oil and gas drilling and fracking. Chaco Culture is the heart of the Ancestral Puebloan world and is brimming with wonder. Our aim is to protect this culturally significant landscape and the wildlands that sustain it. On April 24, 2013, we attended meetings at Chaco Canyon held by the Park and by the Bureau of Land Management. We also got a chance to hike to Pueblo Alto, Ancestral Puebloan ruins in the north of the Park that overlook the areas threatened by drilling and fracking. Stay tuned for more info!
